The
Salmon River, California
May
The
Salmon river is the gem of Northern California whitewater.
It is located in the heart of the "Klamath Knot."
The Knot is some of the wildest and least visited country in
the lower 48. Steep terrain with water flowing everywhere...
river running paradise.
This
beautiful stream offers some of the best whitewater anywhere.
The Class IV and V rapids are a thrill a minute and the setting
is intimate and spectacular. Waterfalls cascading into
the river, narrow moss covered gorges, springtime coming on
all around.
There
are no dams on the Salmon. The waters flow from snow melt to
its confluence with the mighty Klamath river, then on to the
Pacific Ocean. A truly unique thing for a river in California
or anywhere for that matter.
Because
the Salmon is small and very steep... wilderness camping along
the river is difficult at best. So, we set up a base camp
and have the option to run different stretches of river each
day. Anything from mild to wild. The ultimate in
daily river adventures...then cocktail hour in hot tub, warm
clothes, a nice meal and... dessert... perhaps some famous Salmon
river entertainment with Whitewater Willy Wing and friends.
Everyone
who has made the long trip north has thanked us for showing
them this special corner of the Golden State.
You
can join us for the day or all 4... it's up to you. We
promise you'll love it!
